HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER WITH NEEDCAKE?
For standard celebration cakes, NeedCake Now! Boxes and all standard products, please use the online shop. If you would like a bespoke cake, please complete the enquiries form on the website with as much detail as possible and I will get in touch with a quote within 7 days.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I PLACE MY ORDER?
There’s never such a thing as too much notice! For bespoke orders, please allow at least four weeks before the date you require the cake. This allows me to ensure I have availability, draw up a quote and source any special ingredients for your order. For standard celebration cakes, NeedCake Now! Boxes and standard products, 3-7 days is usually adequate, although this is subject to change at busy periods.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
For all bespoke orders, the initial 50% deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE, so please ensure you are completely happy to go ahead at time of booking. Once paid in full, if cancelled within 14 days of the collection date, 50% can be refunded, otherwise the full amount is forfeited. This is due to preparation required for bespoke orders, such as ordering bespoke toppers, flowers etc, which require payment up front.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CHANGE MY ORDER?
Any changes to your order should be brought to my attention immediately. For minor changes (e.g. change of icing/wording) 5-7 days notice is adequate. For more major changes, 14-21 days notice is required.
IS EVERYTHING FROM NEEDCAKE GLUTEN FREE & VEGAN FRIENDLY?
Everything we bake is free from wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy products and animal products. All of our recipes are also free from nuts. The majority of our recipes are free from soya. NeedCake is a home-based bakery, and while every care is taken to ensure all bakery items are stored separately, we do operate in a facility that handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy products, animal products, nuts and soya. If you suffer from a severe allergy, please bear these conditions in mind when placing your order.
DO YOU ALSO OFFER ‘REGULAR’ GOODIES?
NeedCake only offer allergy and vegan friendly products. As stated above, all NeedCake items (including machinery/appliances/utensils/ingredients) are stored separately from allergens. We do not use ‘regular’ ingredients to limit the chance of cross contamination.
DO YOU OFFER DELIVERY?
We do! However, we only offer delivery to select postcodes and at an additional cost. Please click here to check if we deliver to your area.
I’M COLLECTING MY CAKE, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
When collecting your cake, we suggest the best place to store it while travelling is either in the boot of the car, or the foot-well of the front passenger seat. These areas are generally the flattest surface in your car. You may want to bring a piece of non-slip matting to place under the cake box. Sudden movements & sharp braking may cause the cake to shift in transit, please bear this in mind while driving. Please DO NOT place the cake on someone’s knee/one of the seats to transport it. NeedCake will not be held responsible for any damage sustained to a cake once you have collected it from NeedCake HQ.
HELP! MY CAKE HAS BEEN DAMAGED IN TRANSIT, CAN YOU FIX IT?
Under certain circumstances, NeedCake may be able to repair slight damage sustained during transit. This would be undertaken at an additional cost and we reserve the right to decline.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY CAKE AFTER COLLECTION?
Frosting-covered cakes should be stored in the fridge and removed 30 minutes prior to serving. Fondant-covered cakes should be stored in a cool environment, away from direct sunlight. Fondant-covered cakes SHOULD NOT be stored in the fridge as this will cause the fondant to ‘sweat’.
HOW LONG WILL MY CAKE STAY FRESH FOR?
Cupcakes are best eaten within 3 days of purchase. Celebration cakes will last up to 7 days if stored correctly & wrapped after cutting. All NeedCake products are suitable for freezing. Once frozen, cakes should be defrosted and consumed within 3 months.
DO YOU POST CAKES OR CUPCAKES?
We don’t post celebration cakes as we cannot guarantee they would survive the journey. As a rule, we don’t post cupcakes either. However, we can freeze cupcakes and post while frozen, but cannot take responsibility for how they look when they arrive at their destination! Cupcakes are posted using Royal Mail 1st Class at a cost of £5.50. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss posting cupcakes.
